Metaxourgio, is one of the oldest regions of modern Greece. The name of the area and the square of the same name is due to a silk processing factory that has been operating in this area since 1835.

Almost in the center of the area is the square of the same name, where there is a marble fountain. Del Tasso 1850 is located next to Metaxourgio Square, one of the oldest squares in Athens.
